Barbara has years of practical inhouse experience in the fields of ethics, risk, regulatory law and compliance
Barbara Ford was a lawyer with Clifford Chance LLP for 38 years, initially as a fee-earner in real estate and finally in-house with the general counsel as the firm’s global director of regulatory risk and data protection officer. Since then her various consultancy roles have included a period as global head of practice protection for Freshfields Bruckhaus Derringer LLP.
Barbara graduated from University College London in modern languages and began her working life as a teacher of French. She then retrained as a solicitor and subsequently became the first – she believes – solicitor in the City of London to work flexibly from home.
She has found the combination of teaching and legal analytic skills extremely useful in designing, implementing and then embedding policies and procedures, while raising three children honed her negotiating and team management abilities.
